No Theme Nursery

In this house designs are pieced together. We don't have the budget or the need to have everything looking perfect all at once. It keeps me on my toes and allows time to find treasures instead of buying everything at retail.

Then we found out we had a baby on the way. Piece by piece design got kicked to the curb, things needed to happen fast. Goodbye craft room, hello nursery!

We tested every rocker available, registered to our hearts desire, and shopped our house for what could be used in the nursery so we didn't have to splurge on everything. After a few crafty projects, a few splurges, and some moving things around the house we completed the nursery for under $1000. We're talking rug, crib, glider, dresser, drapery, mobile, accessories, side tables, shelving, artwork and a light fixture.

Chase's room is now my favorite room in the house, and the silly boy doesn't even sleep in there. But he occasionally likes to make goofy faces in his crib so we'll start there...
The nursery's white base and pops of color have me dreaming of painting our next house white all over. There's no true "theme" which was kind of the intent and we love it. We splurged on the glider and rug, saved his dresser from the garbage and gave it a makeover, and had fun with the art and accent pieces.

Kid's rooms are my new favorite room to design, anything goes. Which is really how we should live in the rest of our home. Lesson learned. Live colorfully, live relaxed, live messy, just live like you. It's your house, why not?

  1. I love the book idea! When we buy a new house I want to do that in my daughter's room. I am personally not a fan of themes we picked a color scheme and that was it. I think it allows you to add and grow with your little one.

  2. Oh what a gorgeous room, I love the book shelves, great idea to put them at kid level.

  3. Incredibly gorgeous...You are so creative...Thanx for sharing...

  4. Chase's room is so cute! It looks really cozy and comfortable . . . peaceful. The book shelves/nook is adorable. Love it!
